The Royal Liver Building has shaped Liverpool's cityscape for more than a century. The 90 meter high building was built in 1911 and was an architectural sensation at the time. Together with the Cunard Building and Port of Liverpool Building, it is one of the so-called Three Graces, one of the city's landmarks.

The Royal Liver Building [rɔɪəl ˈlaɪvə ˈbɪldɪŋ] is one of Liverpool's landmarks and was named after Royal Liver Assurance, which built the building as the insurance company's headquarters. Designed by Walter Aubrey Thomas, it was one of the first multi-storey reinforced concrete structures and one of the first high-rise buildings in Britain.
The Royal Liver Building has two clock towers, whose dials are 7.6 meters in diameter, two of the largest in Britain, and are illuminated at night.
On each of the top domes of the building there is a 5.5 meter high copper bird figure, collectively called the Liver Birds, which quickly became a symbol of Liverpool.
