The fountain, a work by Alexander Höfer, was inaugurated in 1912 and commemorates the importance of the butcher's trade in Dohna. As early as 1462, the Dohna butchers were given the right to slaughter by the elector to Dresden. Dohna developed into a butcher town. In 1831-1899, 44 Dohna butchers were slaughtered in the Dresden meat banks. In 1931 the last butchers sold in the Dresden market halls, after which the free meat market of the Dohna butchers was a thing of history.
