Of the 48 fountains in Ludwigshafen, the Luther Fountain is one of the most beautiful. The bronze busts of Martin Luther and his wife Katharina von Bora are enthroned on the extensive sandstone complex. The fountain in the heart of the city is the only monument shared by the couple in Germany. There, Luther and his wife are surrounded by other figures that allude to the life of the reformer and the events of the schism.
