The pretty town of San Pedro de Atacama is the starting point of some of the most popular excursions in the Chilean Andes, and the proportion of shops offering offers for the numerous tourists is correspondingly high.
What strikes us is that the signs and plates on these shops are kept in the old style, so that the character of the street scene does not suffer.
The church is one of the oldest in Chile, its roof (seen from inside) is made of cactus wood.
