    The Old Castle in Neustadt-Glewe dates back to the mid-13th century. The complex was built to secure the southern and southeastern borders of the County of Schwerin and consists of the Old and New Houses, the curtain wall with gates and battlements, and the keep.

    Today, the castle houses a museum, a wedding hall, a town information center, and a restaurant. It is the setting for regular medieval castle festivals and the so-called Castle Christmas, and it is the landmark of the town of Neustadt-Glewe.
