The Mudejar Pavilion in the Parque de María Luisa in Seville is a beautiful historic building designed by Aníbal González for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. The Archaeological Museum of Seville (Museo Arqueológico de Sevilla) is housed in the Pabellón del Renacimiento in the Parque de María Luisa. Designed by Aníbal González for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, this museum houses an impressive collection that covers the history of the region from prehistoric times to the early modern period.
The collection includes the El Carambolo treasure, a magnificent collection of gold artefacts from the Iberian period, and numerous finds from the Roman city of Italica, such as mosaics, sculptures and the famous Venus of Italica. The Museum of Arts and Popular Customs of Seville was created in 1972. It is a state-owned museum managed by the Regional Ministry of Culture of the Andalusian Government. Its location in the Mudéjar Pavilion in Plaza de América was due to the transfer of use of this building, first partially and then completely, from the Seville City Council to the State.
