Wiesental belongs to the Münster / Butzbach district and is eight kilometers south of the core town of Butzbach in the wooded foothills of the eastern Hintertaunus.
Wiesental was created in 1948 in the forest area of the then municipality of Münster as a settlement for people displaced from the Sudetenland on the border to the area of the south-eastern neighboring municipality of Fauerbach vor der Höhe.
