Built from 1685 by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, the Colonnade replaces the Bosquet des Sources created by Le Nôtre in 1679. It takes its name from the peristyle – made up of 32 marble columns – which encircles the sculpted group depicting the Abduction of Proserpina , executed by François Girardon between 1678 and 1699.
