Petrota is famous for its ironstones – the dug-out quarries are an iconic mining site, being for years the economic lifeblood of the village. Some of them date back to 1909, while according to tradition, most families had their own personal forge.
A cool shadow engulfs the visitors, an unnatural calm and heartbreaking stillness grips the thoughts of those who walk under the shadow of the stone ledges.
