Marchena is a village belonging to the municipality of Santiago-Pontones, in the province of Jaén (Andalusia, Spain). It is located about 27 km approx. by road from Santiago de la Espada, within the Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park. Next to the core of the village are, a few hundred meters to the east, the farmhouse of El Cortijillo, Cortijo del Tobazo, and a little further away, the small village of Marchenica, arranged along the ravine of the Marchena stream. It has a population as of January 1, 2020 according to the INE of 99 people.
The economic activity of the village and the surrounding farmhouses is mainly based on activities related to the environment, such as livestock (mountain and transhumant grazing, mainly sheep and goats), agriculture, hunting, and forestry and forestry.
