Stroheim is a municipality in Upper Austria known for its beautiful location, historic church and observation tower. It lies on a gneiss bar above the Eferdinger Basin and has around 1,700 inhabitants. The community was first mentioned in documents in the 12th century and was part of the Schaunberg family for a long time. The Stroheim parish church was built in the 13th century and is a Gothic building with a pointed tower. The church houses a baroque high altar and an organ from the 18th century. Near the church is the Landerl Chapel, which commemorates a pious hermit who lived here in the 17th century.
Stroheim is also a popular destination for hikers and cyclists who want to enjoy the beautiful landscape and views. The observation tower on Mayrhofberg is the highest elevation in the Eferding district and offers a wonderful view over the Eferdinger Landl to the Danube and the Mühlviertel. The observation point can be reached via several hiking trails that lead through the forest and fields. Stroheim is also part of the “Castles and Palaces Tour” for cyclists, which leads through the Eferdinger Landl and passes various historical buildings.
Stroheim is a community that has a lot to offer, both for those interested in culture and for nature lovers.
