The cottage is located in a forest clearing in the middle of the extensive Krnica basin between Martuljski mountains, Škrlatica, Razorje and Prisojnik. The decision to build a cottage was adopted by the Kranjskogorsk branch of the SPD at the 7th general assembly on March 13, 1932; this year they already started construction, and the next year they opened the cottage. After the Second World War, the Kranjska Gora Police Department renovated it several times, but the cottage retained its exterior appearance as it had when it was opened. In 1987, the cottage was thoroughly renovated, which enabled it to be open even in winter. The cottage is open from May 1 to October 31, otherwise only on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. At the bridge over Pišnica, a little below Hotel Erika, there is an announcement if the cabin is open; for the winter time, we recommend reading the mountain information or checking by phone.
View:
There is a beautiful view of the mountains surrounding Krnica from the cabin or from a more suitable viewing area nearby. On the eastern side rises the steep slope of Gamsova Špica, and to its right above Krnica are the Velika Dnina, the ridges of Mala and Velika Ponce, Altarja and Škrlatica; on the southeast side, Krnica narrows, and at the end it is closed by the ridge of Dovški Gamsovac and the steep Kriška wall; south of the hut, the northern ridges of Razor and the central part of Prisojnik rise; to the west, immediately above the valley, is the slope of Prednja glava, the northernmost peak in Prisojnik; on the north side, behind the mountains Mali Tamar and V Klin, next to Velika Pišnica, a ridge with Veliki Kumleh and Škrbinjek rises above the Vrše road, which descends towards Kranjska Gora, and on the right bank of Pišnica, the western slopes of the Martuljške mountains rise steeply.
