Various bird species can often be found along the banks of the Roggelse Beek. Think of kingfishers, herons, ducks and other waterfowl. Bird watchers can enjoy spotting several winged friends on their walk.

"The Roggelse Beek is a small river in Limburg that flows into the Leubeek as the Zelsterbeek.

The stream starts at the Heitrakse Peel north of Neerkant in the province of Noord-Brabant, after which it runs south almost parallel to the Deurne Canal. It flows east of Meijel and crosses the Noordervaart with the help of a culvert. Then the stream flows through the Weijenhout forest area, where the Oude Doorbrandsbeek flows into it, and a few hundred meters further the Visschensteert, a long drainage canal.

The Roggelse Beek then flows past the Asbroekerheide and directly through the Roggel basin, then absorbs the Bevelandse Beek and flows into the Leudal nature reserve as the Zelsterbeek.

The Roggelse Beek was largely straightened in 1938."
