The Brucher Chapel was in 1792 the first stop of devout Catholics. "These chapels were erected to the inhabitants of the deep neighborhood in honor of Saint Francis Xavier," was the inscription above the front door.
It was customary that on the Ascension of Christ a procession of Merten was raised from the heights and held Mass at the chapel. In 1928, the small church was enlarged and until 1965, a Holy Mass was celebrated on Sundays and public holidays. After the old chapel decayed and could no longer be saved, a new one was built. Carrier is the home club Eitorf and she is cared for by the chapel association, which organizes the chapel festival there every year on Ascension Day. The proceeds benefit the preservation of the chapel.
