The New Cross (reconciliation cross replica)
In a map from 1944, the cross is still marked next to a path.
You can still find the geo-data of the cross on the web.
When entering the data, the location of the cross is in the middle of the parcel.
Rinderfeld and Streichental had a land consolidation in 1978.
Land consolidation is used to combine properties.
This means that some paths are no longer necessary or new paths are added.
I.e. around 1978 an attempt was made to move the cross to the new location.
I suspect that during this attempt the cross broke and was replaced by a new one.
You have to thank those involved for putting up a cross again and not just letting the cross disappear.
The reason why the cross was erected is not known.
Usually one or more people died at the site.
It was seldom an accident.
Mostly there was a homicide.
