The iconic Peña Palomera is located in the Calar de la Sima, a typical example of a Betic calar. It is a formidable mountain range located between the provinces of Albacete and Jaén. Its relief extends from north to south for more than five kilometers in which it maintains a constant height of around 1800 meters, which gives it a special and superior rank over its neighbors that barely reach 1700 in specific places.
The most characteristic feature of this calar is an enormous molar located in the geographical center of the divide known as the Peña Palomera, while the maximum elevation is the Cerrico or peak of the Mentiras of 1896 meters and which is barely distinguishable in the enormity of the rope, which the locals call Vipers.
