Evidence of human occupation of the hill has been documented since prehistoric times. We can mention the stone axes found around the area, and among them a basalt ax found on the hill itself, and a flint stone, a fragment of a knife found near Can Tomeu, in the Serrat, attributed to the Bronze Age and associated with an agricultural and livestock community. In the hill of Arbocer near Puiggraciós and also in the Baumes del Traver in the cliffs of Bertí, material from the Late Bronze and Early Iron Age is documented. The first constructive remains can be found in the village of Puiggraciós from the second Iron Age and the Iberian world. The town was discovered in 1940 but its main researcher has been Leandre Villaronga. The ceramic material recovered corresponds to Iberian ceramics and Campanian ceramics, which has led Leandre Villaronga to assume that the town's heyday would be around the 3rd-1st century BC. Other finds made were a stone from a hand mill, a loom weight, two fusaioles and iron nails. A bronze weight equivalent to two Roman ounces and two Ibero-Roman coins from the dry spell of Kesse (Tarragona) have also been found in this town. The remains of Roman influence and some fragments of Roman material found in this place and in the Serrat suggest that the town survived well into Romanization. Its disappearance could be placed in the 1st-3rd centuries AD.
