Very worthwhile excursion with a wonderful all-round view. Sommerholz is a small hamlet around the branch and pilgrimage church of St. George, first mentioned in 1475, on the northern foothills of the Kolomansberg, i.e. on the edge of the Salzkammergut. Visible from afar, the small church, where a Georgiritt takes place every two years, sits enthroned on the ridge between the Upper Austrian Irrsee - also called Zeller See - and the Wallersee in the Salzburg region. The church and the handful of houses in its vicinity are in the municipality of Neumarkt am Wallersee, i.e. in Salzburg. No matter which of the ascents you choose, you always have to overcome just over 200 meters in altitude with gradients of just over 10%.
