Strictly speaking, the New Town Hall is already the third town hall in the city of Waren (Müritz), as the second town hall on the Neuer Markt fell victim to the city fire of 1699. The current town hall building was built between 1791 and 1797 as a three-story plastered building in the historicizing Tudor Gothic style.
Today the town hall houses, among other things, the registry office. On the upper floor, the City History Museum shows a permanent exhibition and thematic special exhibitions on the history of Waren.

Waren (Müritz) is a top-notch shopping town, and this is especially evident in the city center.
The pedestrian zone on Lange Straße and the many side streets of Waren's city center offer a cozy atmosphere for a shopping stroll. Many shops are certified, allowing Waren (Müritz) to call itself a top-notch shopping town.
The weekly market takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Neuer Markt, and
on Fridays there is also a fresh produce market selling exclusively food.
During the summer months, the Neuer Markt hosts fortnightly green markets
with fresh regional produce, as well as art and flea markets.
