The family burial ground of Bockstadt Castle contains, among others, the graves of Baron Hermann-August von Münchhausen, who had the castle built, and of his wife Annette Estep. Hermann was the last direct descendant of the famous lying Baron from Bodenwerder. As his nephew, however, he only had 5 daughters. So the family lives on, but the noble line died out. After his death, the castle passed to his son-in-law. So he and other descendants are also buried in the cemetery. It is unusual that the heads of the founder's three most successful breeding mares were also buried here!
An information board at the family burial ground provides a lot of further information, such as about the further lives of the 5 daughters, the life of Baron Hermann and horse breeding in Bockstadt.
