A circumnavigation of the Oderparksee is worthwhile. There are benches for a break and the lake always looks new from different angles. With a bit of luck, many birds can be observed.

Oderparksee is about 650 meters long and up to 270 meters wide man-made waters in the southwestern Harz foreland. It is located within a large park on the western outskirts of Hattorf. Its north shore is only a few dozen meters south of the Oder. In the surrounding Oderpark u.a. various sports and leisure facilities, a children's playground and much more. In addition, the Oderparksee is a popular fishing waters.
By the end of the 1980s, opencast gravel was mined in the area of today's Oderparksee. Over the course of millennia, this material washed over the Oder and the sieves that had just burst into existence.
