Halmeil is a former settlement that used to stretch across the two sides of the Saxon-Czech state border.
The original village "Halbmeil" was built around 1546 and was founded by miners like everywhere else in the Erzgebirge. In 1582, the name "half mile" appears for the first time in the mine files. Formerly the place extended over both sides along the Saxon-Czech state border.
