This modernist building was built between 1911 and 1912 by the Catalan architect Pablo Monguió, who worked extensively in the community of Teruel at the beginning of the 20th century. It is an interpretation of medieval religious architecture, fusing historicist references with the aesthetic language of the early 20th century. It is located a short distance from the city of Teruel, about five kilometers.

Within the vast architectural heritage of Teruel, this is the only Church of a modernist character with some indications of medieval influence as a whole. Work of the architect Pablo Monguió, it was inaugurated in 1912 and was financed privately.

This church, referred to here as the "Iglesia Modernista", with the title (patronage) "San SALVADOR" was not dedicated to one of the many people we venerate as blessed or saints and ask for their heavenly intercession with God. Rather, it is dedicated to the incarnate Son of God, Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Savior.
