Frog Spring at Slengmyren is a very popular family day out
The Frog Spring, or Tsuobbuojája as it is called in Sami, is a cold spring (15 m in diameter, at least 3 m deep) located in the middle of Slengmyran, near the village of Lomträsk. A partially paved path takes you from Häggsjölidvägen 600 meters out onto the moor and the spring. Once there, you can have a coffee or barbecue at the prepared fire pit and windbreak at the source.
The cold spring is a so-called artesian spring where the water has a very high pressure and you can see through the clear water how it bubbles up from below where it enters. The most striking thing about the source, however, is the striking turquoise color that contrasts sharply with the surrounding bog. The color may be due to liquid clay particles reflecting the green and blue light in the water, but light green filamentous algae can also contribute to the turquoise color.
