    Nestled amidst gorgeous woodland to the northeast of Aviemore, Loch Garten is a beautifully tranquil place for a stroll. It's a treat for birders, with many species to spot such as ospreys and capercaillie. In summer, watch dragonflies and damselflies darting about, while you can also spy common lizards.

      Loch Garten was the first place where Ospreys nested when they returned to Scotland. These amazing fish-eating birds spend the winter in Africa, returning to Scotland in late March and migrating to Africa again in August or September.

            A serene spot to enjoy immersing yourself in the nature around you - sheltered amongst the trees there’s a wide variety of birds to spot at the loch side as well as the beautiful views across to the surrounding hills

              There are some fantastic woodland trails here, and plenty of small car parks to start from. Lots of wildlife and the loch views are stunning.

                There are several places to park around the forest to walk to the Loch, and several trails to take you along it’s shore. Could be easy to get lost though.
                A very peaceful place and lost of wildlife.
