The carillon originally hung on the facade of what is now the old town passage. At that time, the arcade was still the Kaufhaus der Mitte (KDM), on the first floor the Lammsbrauerei operated an inn. When NKD ceased to be the successor to KDM and the building stood empty, the Glockenspiel moved from the Unterer to the Oberer Markt. The carillon has 18 bells and is played every day at 12 noon
