Here are well restored remains of the former city wall. The protruding stones that supported the battlements are clearly visible. The tower is a little further down and belongs to a private house. Here you will find the best-preserved part of the former fortifications of Heldburg.

A mighty city wall once surrounded the small town of Heldburg. Construction began in 1402. Upon completion, the imposing bastion boasted two gates and 14 towers.

Today, only five towers and the lower city gate remain of the fortifications. However, with a little imagination, one can still get an idea of the medieval scale by walking along the length of the former city walls.

Right next to the city gate is the "Torschenke" inn, a family-run inn with an attached guesthouse.
