The Polar Bear monument was designed by the Roosendaal artist Joop Vlak and executed by stonemason Gijsbertus Boeren.[9] The statue consists of a column made of basalt lava and on top of the column is a globe with a polar bear on top. The column stands on a square pedestal. On the top pedestal are the arms of Noord-Brabant, Roosendaal, the Leicestershire regiment and the Duke of Wellington regiment. On the lower pedestal is an inscription and a plaque has been pasted which also contains an inscription.

On 5 May 1960, this statue by Joop Vlak was unveiled at the location where on 30 October 1944, two regiments of the British Polar Bear Division entered the centre of Roosendaal via a Bailey bridge.
The moment of liberation is commemorated by this statue in vaurio stone of a polar bear on a round basalt lava stone column with a square pedestal.
Above the pedestal are the coats of arms of the municipality, province and the regiments Duke of Wellington and Leicestershire.
