Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross from 1937. The eleven meter high iron cross, erected in 1928 by some volunteers as a memorial to the Aeolian people who died in the war, is enthroned high and visible from afar on the summit.

After about 45 minutes on foot from Pignataro port you reach the summit of Monte Rosa. The church up there (Chiesa dell'Esaltazione della Santa Croce) is no longer well preserved and the vegetation around it has now taken over. But the view is worth the trip.

Somewhat neglected little church. Closed. At the cross on the top of the mountain, view of Stromboli. Very nice way from the driveway to the chapel.
