Jewel of military architecture of the sixteenth century, the Medici Fortress of Arezzo stands on the hill of San Donato.

Star-shaped plan, adapted to the hill, and five bastions. The current fortress was designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger, the architect of the Fortezza da Basso in Florence.
