On the edge of the Peak District, above the village of Wildboarclough, rises the Matterhorn…of Cheshire. Shutlingsloe is a summit that is held in such high regard that it has been compared by some to one of the world’s most iconic mountains. Those who’ve seen the actual Matterhorn may raise an eyebrow at the comparison, but Shutlingsloe, Cheshire’s third highest peak at 1,660 feet (506 m), clearly has something going for it.

    On a clear day, the views are outstanding!

      Incredible views across the Cheshire Plain, Shining Tor, The Roaches and even distant Manchester. It's a tricky climb from the Wildboarclough side, but the route from Macclesfield Forest is easier.
