At the foothills of the 518 meter high Höcherberg lies the small hamlet of Waldziegelhütte. The Waldmohrer district developed from a brick factory around the middle of the 18th century. However, the northern houses of the Waldziegelhütte belong to Dunzweiler, since the municipal boundary between Waldmohr and Dunzweiler runs through the northern half of the town.

The first indications of the extraction of clay for firing bricks and ceramics at this location can be found in 1547 (“Dippners Grub”) and 1564 (“Hefnersgrub”). Düppner and Häfner are old terms for the potter. In 1717, the Dunzweiler miller and brickmaker Peter Becker applied to the lordship to be allowed to operate a brickworks here on long-term lease.

The Bergmannsbauern-Rundweg leads past the Landhaus Waldziegelhütte - with restaurant - (www.landhaus-waldziegelhuette.de/).
