The Hubbrücke, actually called Marstallbrücke (named after the Marstall located to the south), is a mobile bridge with its own structure for railways, road vehicles and pedestrians in Lübeck. It is one of more than 200 bridges in Lübeck and is listed as a historic monument since 1988.

The lifting bridges on the castle gate have been registered as technical monuments in the monument book of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. Its towers are a particularly good illustration of the architectural concept of the Wilhelminian era. They are built in neo-gothic style and not only decorative accessories, but nacelles for the bridge systems.

Both the Straßenhubbrücke and the railway bridge are moved hydraulically. Each bridge (bridge superstructure) and a counterweight in the operating tower are connected by a filled with glycerol-water mixture hydraulic system.

The bridge is kept slightly overweight by ballast iron. If it is to be lifted, the counterweight in the operating tower is pushed down over racks by an electric motor. The up and down movement of the bridge is secured by journals and racks on the opposite supports against tilting and manually controlled by the bridge attendant.

The railway bridge was shut down in November 2009. It is no longer needed by the operator of the rail network.
