View of Burg Hornberg
The castle Hornberg was according to oldest documents a Gaugrafenburg and later a knight castle on a steep 228.6 m above sea level. NHN high mountain spur above the Neckar valley above the village of Neckarzimmern between Bad Wimpfen and Mosbach. The Spornburg originally consisted of two separate castle complexes with a common outer bailey, which were later surrounded by a wall. Götz von Berlichingen lived for 45 years at Burg Hornberg, for which he was already enthusiastic as a teenager. The castle belonging to, according to documents second oldest still existing winery of the world operates below the castle on steep terraces traditional viticulture.
The castle was named "Monument of the Month August 2013" by the Denkmalstift Baden-Württemberg.

View from the bridge that connects Haßmersheim with the S-Bahn station on the other side of the Neckar.
Very nice view of the Neckar, Haßmersheim and the Hornberg castle above Neckarzimmern.
There used to be a car ferry here, which fell away due to the construction of the pedestrian bridge. As a driver you have to use the bridges of Gundelsheim or Neckarelz.
