Deki Fourcin seems to have made a serious mistake. This "gypsy rock" has neither a climbing system nor are there any signs of work such as beam holes or anything else, let alone the remains of walls. The five-volume standard work "Pfälzisches Burgen-Lexikon" by the Institute for Palatinate History and Folklore does not mention any castle site there, neither on the rock pictured nor anywhere else nearby. The author of this tip probably meant that the "gypsy rock" was the castle site on the French side of the border near the hamlet of Wengelsbach. There is a climbing system there and small remains of a small medieval fortification. Page 428 in the 5th volume of the mentioned castle lexicon (Zigeunerfels, Hameau de Wengelsbach, Commune de Niedersteinbach-Wengelsbach, Canton Wissembourg, Départemet du Bas-Rhin; 49*2'40,2''N , 7*42'54,1''E). However, this castle was not built in the 17th century, but probably in the 13th or 14th century (

To add: in the 17th century no more castles were built here. On the contrary: in the course of the Reunion Wars in 1688/89 almost all castles (even the ruins that were still relatively intact) or other structures that could have served as defenses were blown up and/or burned down by the advancing French troops in northern Alsace and the Palatinate.
