In order to ensure the long-term preservation of the pond landscape, the VNP Foundation concluded a cooperation agreement with the owner last year. In the future, the VNP will take care of the maintenance of the ponds. Thanks to funding from the Bingo Environmental Foundation and the district of Harburg, the dams in the pond system, known as monks, have now been replaced. The work turned out to be very time-consuming, as some dams were no longer stable and the water was sometimes still being conducted through them in wooden tubes. So not only the monks were replaced, but also new pipes were laid and some sections of the dam were rebuilt. Nevertheless, it was possible to dam the ponds again in time for moor and agile frogs, which spawn in these waters. Further care measures are to follow.
