Cap Gros is a mountainous headland visible from practically all points on the north coast of Palamós, from the port to Es Castell beach. It covers an area of 5 hectares between Playa de la Fosca (at its northern end) and Cala Margarida (southern end). Formerly occupied by cultivated agricultural land, today it is already in the public domain and on it grow pines and some species of cacti near the sea. Cap Gros is criss-crossed by several footpaths that today are very frequented by walkers who find in this forest a quiet corner with excellent views of the sea (from almost a maximum height of 70 meters)
It is a promontory with wild relief that falls steeply over the sea. It is located between the Margarina coves, sheltered to the south and Rocafosca to the north.
Josep Pla describes it as follows: "it looks like a grandiose elephant's back that dives into the sea with a heavy and good-natured air and a monstrous indifference".
There is a geodesic vertex.
