    A very beautiful neo-Gothic church in the center of Eindhoven. It is certainly one of the tallest and most beautiful buildings in Eindhoven.

      The Catherine Church is a Roman Catholic church in the city center of the Dutch city of Eindhoven, dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria. The church is located on Catharinaplein, at the beginning of Stratumseind and was built to replace the dilapidated medieval St. Catherine's Church.

      The history of the Collegium Musicum Eindhoven dates back to the 1980s. The Music in the Cathrien foundation was founded in 1988, with the aim of organizing concerts in the St. Catharina Church. In 1997 the merger with the Friends of the Organ foundation (founded in 1986) followed. Since then the name was Stichting Kerkconcerten Eindhoven, renamed Collegium Musicum Eindhoven in mid-2012.

      The most important activity of this Collegium is the organization of the concert series "Music in the Cathrien", which has become a living concept in Eindhoven and the region.

        Lovers of archaeological finds should definitely visit the small exhibition in the right aisle of the church. The excavations date from 2005-2006 and are recommended to learn more about the past.

          The most striking feature of St. Catherine's Church are the two towers,
          both 73 meters high and consisting of a male and a female variant:
          the so-called David Tower and Maria Tower.

          During World War II, in 1942 and 1944, bombings targeted many
          damage to. After the war, architect C.H. de Bever was called in to help the church
          restore. The original windows, which were destroyed, were replaced
          through the current stained glass windows.

            The current St. Catherine's Church replaced the medieval predecessor that stood here. It is a neo-Gothic church with a unique double tower front. Each tower is 73 meters high but both are not exactly the same. The southern (left) tower is a slightly slimmer tower. It is the Tower of the Purity of Mary. The northern (right) tower is slightly larger. It is the tower of the Power of David. Since 1987, the right tower has housed the Philips carillon from 1966, which originally stood in a modern carillon tower in a park near the Evoluon.
