The once magnificent Inn Bridge was, among other things, the building block of Innsbruck's wealth. The first Inn Bridge was built in the 12th century. It not only gave the city of Innsbruck its name, but also brought in a great deal of money.

Since there was no crossing over the Inn River in the entire surrounding area at the time, all traders traveling from north to south had to cross the bridge here.

The people of Innsbruck took advantage of this: people had to pay a lot to cross the Inn,

which filled the city coffers. The Mühlau Bridge wasn't built until 1581!

Until then, the Inn Bridge was the only way from north to south.

The current Inn Bridge is not comparable to the former bridge. It is a purely functional structure built in 1981. And it serves its purpose: cars, cyclists,

and pedestrians use the city's largest bridge. The concrete bridge connects the magnificent old town of Innsbruck with the oldest district, Mariahilf – St. Nikolaus.

The colorful houses directly along the Inn River testify to the beauty of these streets.

Old bridge from the northern side of the River Inn to the Altstadt Innsbruck. The south side opens up via a cobbled street into the area with the Goldern Roof. From the bridge you will have wonderful panoramic views of the Inn valley. Sights include the Nordkette, the churches in the old town, ski jump etc
