A few kilometers below the top of the pass, there is a large gravel car park and a little further away, a rock in the Casse Déserte with two memorial plaques: one for the Frenchman Louison Bobet and one for Fausto Coppi. Bobet was first at the summit three times and laid the foundation for two of his three Tour de France victories there in the early 1950s. The Italian Coppi won the Izoard mountain prize twice, in 1951 and 1949.
