If you are in Bordeaux then you should make a detour to the Dune de Pilat. It is Europe's largest shifting dune - approx. 110 m high and 2.7 km long. The climb takes place via a staircase down through the sand to the sea or at the end to the campsite again via a staircase. The view from above is gigantic 🤩

At just under 100m, it's a gigantic dune that you can hike on foot. It's best to take your flip flops with you and then go barefoot later. The sand at the top is getting quite warm, but it's bearable.
