As you can read on the official website of the MUSea:
The Vivo del Mare Museum, a museum of regional interest located in the hamlet of Pioppi in the municipality of Pollica (Sa), was opened to the public in 1998 thanks to the joint efforts of the Marenostrum association and the municipal administration led by the late mayor Angelo Vassallo .
The Museum has been managed since January 2013 by Legambiente Onlus and represents one of the most popular museum and educational structures in the Campania region. It is housed in the Vinciprova Palace, a building of historical interest placed under the monumental protection of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities.
The Castle, as it is called by the inhabitants of Pioppi, was built in the seventeenth century by the Ripoli family, merchants originally from Catalonia but settled in Pollica during the rule of the Aragonese in Naples.
In 1888 it belonged to Giuseppe Sodano, lord of Pollica, who later gave it to the Vinciprovas of Omignano.
