Former iron ore mining.

The mine is located near Payerbach at the foot of Rax and Schneeberg. (Station Payerbach - Reichenau) 70 km south of Vienna, near the Semmering. Access is via the district Werning. Via the geological adventure path, where the rocks are systematically presented in their formation, one reaches the mouth of the mouth 150m above the village.
But you can also reach it easily from the Gasthaus Schweighofer (Grillenberg).
Dolly the mouth hole of Erbstollens From the forecourt of the mouth hole you have a magnificent panoramic view of Rax and Schwarzatal.
The entrance, Erbstollen, was reopened (opened) for display, teaching and research purposes in the years 1991 - 1994.
In the Bronze Age, the chalcopyrite of the cricket hill has already been mined. The Innerberger main trade union struck in 1791 the oldest tunnel, the Maria-Schutz-Stollen, and reached after 15 m the ore.

Interesting show mine which also houses the GILA seismic station. The broadband seismometer is used to record earthquake waves. The station was built in 2009. The MTB Tour Grillenberg route also runs along the hiking trail to the mine.
