With the 35 km around, it's great for a family outing if the kids let you go further. There are so many horses, playgrounds, beaches and ice cream parlors that slow down progress.

The circular route is very well signposted and has small loops. The paths are easy to drive on and even a city bike has no problems with surfaces such as asphalt, concrete slabs, forest and gravel paths. The attraction captivates with nature, but also touristic zones.

In the Steinhuder Meer holiday region, cycling is the most popular holiday activity alongside swimming. No cyclist can take the opportunity to circumnavigate the Steinhuder Meer at least once on the excellently developed circular route. The approximately 32-kilometer tour combines the surprisingly numerous cultural and, above all, scenic highlights by the sea. You can easily spend a whole day on and off the circular route.

On this path, you will roam through a variety of landscapes by bike or on foot, which frame the large lake like a sparkling jewel. The shore will change shape several times during your hike. Sometimes there are trees that line up directly at the water's edge, sometimes there are reed belts, then the flat foothills of a large dune pushes into the water and forms a fine sandy beach. You move in the shadow of a forest, which finally opens up to wide wet meadows. Later you will reach an alder forest that looks like a primeval forest, a paradise for songbirds and waterfowl, which you can enter on a fixed footbridge.

With an area of 29.1 km², the Steinhuder Meer in Lower Saxony is the largest lake in northwest Germany and the ninth largest lake in Germany and is located in the Hanover region. The maximum 2.9 m and an average 1.35 m deep body of water formed in a basin towards the end of the last Ice Age around 14,000 years ago. Today, the lake, which is about 30 km north-west of Hanover and is the center of the Steinhuder Meer Nature Park, is a nationwide destination for excursions because of its protected natural areas and diverse recreational opportunities. It is located in the Weser river system.[2] The term "sea" is to be understood in the sense of the Low German language as an inland lake.
