Located not far from Güstrow town centre, the Gothic Gertruden Chapel was opened in 1953 as the first Barlach Museum in Güstrow. The chapel houses around 30 sculptures and reliefs by Ernst Barlach, all of which were created during his time in Güstrow.

In 1953 an exhibition room was set up in the Gertrudenkapelle, not far from the city center of Güstrow. In addition to sculptures and sculptures such as the "Reading Convent Students", "Bound Witch", the figures of the "Community of Saints" or "The Doubter" can be seen.
Concerts are held in the Gertrudenkapelle in the summer months.
