The tower got its name from the pharmacist Ludwig Hoffmann, who bought it in 1852 and had it rebuilt.

The tower with a ground floor and two upper floors still has the medieval cornice and the stone consoles for the battlements. The cupola, which originally did not belong to the tower, is covered with slabs of slate. It comes from the castle in Hellingen, which was partially demolished in the early 1870s, where Hoffmann bought it to have it placed on his tower true to the original.

The tower is still privately owned today.

The Apothekerturm stands on the eastern edge of the city and was once part of the city fortifications. It is divided into the ground floor and the first and second floors. You can still clearly see the medieval cornice and the stone consoles for the battlements.
The tower got its name from the pharmacist Ludwig Hoffmann, who bought it in 1852 and had it rebuilt. A special feature here was that the cupola made of slate, which covers the tower today, does not come from Heldburg at all or was made for the tower. Southwest of Heldburg is the small town of Hellingen. The castle located there was partially demolished around 1873 in order to get to an oak wood foundation underneath. Without further ado, Hoffmann bought the roof of a tower of the former castle and had it transported to Heldburg. It was later reinstalled true to the original on today's apothecary's tower.

The tower is still privately owned today.
