a large square in Szczecin's Pogodno. Surrounded by villas of varied architecture, it is now a place of recreation and relaxation for local residents. There are two playgrounds on its premises.
The square was laid out in the 1890s as the focal point of the Neu Westend estate designed and realized by the joint stock company Westend Stettin. The company was managed by Johannes Quistorp. The square was named Johannes Platz in his honor. At the time of construction, the estate was located just outside the city limits, which was beneficial for the investor due to lower taxes and local fees. The estate was well connected with the city center - the main road towards Tanowo (today's Aleja Wojska Polskiego) ran nearby, and there was a railway stop nearby (now Szczecin Łękno). The estate had its own power plant and water and sewage network.
Five streets meet in an asymmetrical layout on the square. Each of them was originally named after one of the members of the Quistorp family. These names changed after 1910, when the estate was incorporated into the city.
In the first years of the 20th century, the construction of architecturally diverse villas began around the circular square, most of which have survived to this day.
