The picturesque moated castle is privately owned, so it can not be visited. But also from outside worth a look at the castle. Especially nice: On sunny days, the castle is reflected in the water of the moat.

Schloss Holte is a Baroque moated castle from the 17th century in the East Westphalian Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is the successor of a fortified water castle of the 14th century, which was destroyed by fire in 1556. From 1608 to 1616, including existing remains of Count Johann III. Reconstructed by Ostfriesland and his wife Sabina Catharina von Rietberg as a hunting lodge, it came by marriage at the end of the 17th century to the family of the Counts of Kaunitz. In 1822, Friedrich Ludwig Tenge acquired the neglected facility and converted it into a residence for his son-in-law. At the same time, the entrepreneur had an ironworks built south of the castle. The property is still privately owned by the Tenge-Rietberg family, who have furnished rental apartments in the castle. The buildings and the park are not to be visited.
