"...The "Oostrumse Beek" is a stream in the municipality of Venray in the Dutch province of Limburg.
The stream is about 20 kilometers long and the total area of the catchment area is 47.6 km². The stream flows into the Maas northeast of Geijsteren. The stream is partly fed with mesh water from the Peel Canal. The upstream part runs through areas of intensive agriculture, while the downstream part runs through a landscape with extensive agricultural areas and nature reserves.
The Oostrumse Beek lies in the middle of the higher sandy soils and was formed in peaty layers in the sandy landscape. A meandering stream flowed into this depression, which was fed by groundwater for at least part of the year. The stream belongs to the lowland streams and is characterized by a low gradient and a low flow rate.
The stream also flows through Landgoed Geijsteren with the Sint-Willibrordus Chapel from the 16th century on the border between North Brabant and Limburg.
Near the mouth of the stream into the Maas are the foundations of the Geijsteren castle, which is surrounded by a moat. ..."
