The Brandner Glacier, or rather its sad remnant, is easily accessible without any crevasses in the snow-free months with the appropriate equipment. Grodeln are recommended. The trail is marked with poles and provided with a fog cord.

The glacier is a visible example of the effects of ever-increasing temperatures. It used to be the third largest glacier in Vorarlberg. In the early 1980s there were still plans for a summer ski area.

The disappearance of the Brandner Glacier or Brandner Ferner will progress continuously in the coming years until it melts completely. With major effects on the surrounding alpine pastures and water bodies (e.g. Glingabrunnen komoot.de/highlight/858439)

For tours over the increasingly rapidly disappearing ice surface, this means correspondingly longer travel times or the routes become impassable.
